Assembly Majority Whip Karen Bass and Assemblymember Loni Hancock, Chair Natural Resource Committee, to Keynote Event for Swanson for Assembly
Assembly Majority Whip Karen Bass and Assembly Natural Resource Committee chair Loni Hancock will be the special guests at a Gala Dinner Celebration honoring Sandré Swanson, candidate for the 16th Assembly District. The dinner will be held at Scott’s Seafood Restaurant in Oakland on Saturday, February 25th, from 6-9p.m. Two hundred and fifty guests are supporting this special event with their attendance and donations. Honorary Chairs for the event include Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Congressman Ron Dellums, Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante, Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata, Alameda County Board of Supervisors President Keith Carson, and Alameda Mayor Beverly Johnson.
“I am very excited about the endorsement of Assembly Majority Leader Bass and Assemblymember Hancock of my campaign, and their support of this special event,” Swanson said. “This dinner is a celebration of the broad support that has lined up for our campaign for the California State Assembly.”
Swanson added, ”Our campaign is about making the education of our children a real priority in our state. Events like this enable us to mobilize our support as we launch a massive grass-roots operation to inform voters of the issues, and the importance of the June 6 primary election.”
In addition to the campaign’s strong support from elected officials at all levels of government, powerful community organizations including the Alameda Central Labor Council, the California Nurse’s Association, and the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce are also supporting the Swanson for Assembly campaign.
The 16th Assembly District includes the cities of Piedmont and Alameda, as well as over 80% of Oakland.
